How to choose a line
Bicycle Germany in this corner of Lower Saxony is not about alpine passes. It is about reading wind, surface and season. The Lake Loop around Steinhuder Meer is the signature day: almost flat, almost continuous views of water, and enough shared path that courtesy matters. Start early if summer day-trippers fill Steinhude. Mardorf is the natural mid-point for coffee and a weather check.
Weser Meadow Ride uses the Weserradweg and farm tracks described in the flood meadow notes. Reed Shore Route stays on the embankment at Dümmer See, best when you want birds and bronze reed rather than swimming beaches. Forest & Water Line ties Rehburg-Loccum woodland to lake edges — see oak islands for the green middle. The five-day itinerary sequences these so the body learns the country instead of racing it.
